The ceramist

Inspiration

I create stoneware decorative vases and other one-of-a-kind pieces. The texture on the surface of the clay is an essential element guiding me in the creation of my pieces. As a biologist, nature and particularly animal wildlife are important sources of inspiration. When decorated with figures, motifs are simple, spare and even primitive to confer more presence to the subject. The texture on the surface of the clay and the contrast between raw clay and glazes contribute to give a rustic, organic and warm aspect to my pieces. I also explore themes related to cracks, breaks, fractures … openings by which the eye penetrates.

In 2015, one of my pieces was selected by the designer Jean-Claude Poitras for the Festival Mode et Design de Montréal.

I am member professional artisan of the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec and member of the Corporation des métiers d’art en Estrie.

With the creation of my ceramics, I wish to share the sensual pleasure brought by working with clay as well as my passion for nature and ceramic.
